The Hermitts' songs have been compared to the likes of Guided By Voices, The Jesus and Mary Chain and various obscure shoegazing acts we're not quite sure ever existed.

"Following on from the ‘Weight Of The World’ 4 track 7” single on Greece’s Old Bad Habits Label and a download only track, ‘The Moors’, comes The Hermitts’ debut LP. It’s an album laced with melancholic guitar-pop, reverbed vocals and slacker guitar solos with the songs gleaming like rough cut diamonds in the half-lit sonic landscape. The album is the work of Matt Hicks, founder member of The Mittens and Horowitz and later of Herzoga and Moscow. He plays everything on the record and it’s his vocals which give shape and character to this vivid and personal collection of songs. ‘Weight Of The World’ is an excellent record - an album to listen to on those upcoming cold winter evenings wrapped up in front of the fire while letting the sound envelop and warm you inside" - Bill Maddox.

Their fuzzed up, melodic sound has been likened to Teenage Fanclub on Psilocybin, whilst their lyrics explore the weird ennui that's crept into everyone's lives in the past few years.
